“Hong Kong Autonomy Act” passed though U.S. Senate and House of Representative, only the signature of president Donald Trump left!
Commenting on the US House of Representatives passing the Hong Kong Autonomy Act, Hong Kong Watch’s Director, Johnny Patterson, said: “The fact that both the US House of Representatives and the US Senate have now passed the Hong Kong Autonomy Act sends a clear signal to the Communist Party of China, that the international community will not stand by and allow it to flagrantly breach its obligations under the Sino-British Joint Declaration and its promises to the people of Hong Kong.
Aside from targeted sanctions on the perpetrators of human rights abuses under the National Security Law, this legislation will give new powers to the US Government to impose secondary sanctions on financial institutions who are complicit in undermining Hong Kong’s autonomy.”
Toomey quoted the incident of arrested youngsters
In the hearing of U.S. Senate, Senator Pat Toomey showed a photo of Hong Kong’s protest during his speech, where a significant proportion of the picture is the flag with slogan “Liberate Hong Kong Revolution Now”. He speech showed his care about Hong Kong. He mentioned the things just happened yesterday in his speech. 300 peaceful protesters had been arrested, including a 15 years old girl who waved the flag of Hong Kong independence, and a 19 years old young man whose crime is having a pro democracy sticker on his phone.
